The green ribbon is the symbol of World Mental Health Day, celebrated every year on 10 October. During the mental health weeks, everyone is warmly invited to wear the green ribbon to show their support for mental health and solidarity with people affected by mental disorders.

The role of the Service Prévention et Formation of the Ligue Santé Mentale is to coordinate the various cultural, artistic, social, and academic activities organised by partners during the mental health weeks, and to give them visibility.
It is only through your commitment as a partner that Luxembourg can shine a light upon mental health from 5 to 17 October 2026.
From the beginning of spring, you will be able to create your profile and submit your activity. Here are a few ideas for activities you could organise as a:
Municipality
The role of municipalities in prevention is beyond question. As you work closely with citizens and local associations, you are ideally positioned to bring people together for a common project. You can contribute to the mental health weeks in several ways
- Mobilising your own services that operate in the field of mental health (e.g. equal opportunity, wellbeing, advisory committees) and promoting their work.
- Organising awareness-raising activities (e.g. Mental Health First Aid course for your citizens).
- Training your staff on mental health topics (e.g. Mental Health First Aid course) and their own wellbeing (e.g. stress management training).
- Coordinating local events during the two weeks (e.g. by appointing a responsible person).
- Encouraging and supporting initiatives by local and/or national partners through funding or by providing staff, facilities, or equipment.
- Collaborating with other municipalities and/or stakeholders to promote a coherent, complementary, and jointly developed approach.
- Promoting the mental health weeks via various channels (e.g. local community newspaper, website, social media, flyers, green ribbons*).

Formal or non-formal educational institution
The actors in formal and non-formal education have a mission to prepare future generations for the challenges of life and play a crucial role in strengthening resilience and preserving mental health. Your involvement in the mental health weeks can take various forms
- Organising awareness-raising activities for children and/or young people to strengthen both individual and collective resilience (e.g. open days, workshops).
- Training teachers, educators, supervisors, and/or students on mental health topics (e.g. YOUTH Mental Health First Aid course) and their own wellbeing (e.g. stress management training).
- Providing information and materials for raising awareness among parents (e.g. informative resources, information evenings, workshops).
- Collaborating with other stakeholders to promote a coherent, complementary, and jointly developed approach.
- Promoting the mental health weeks via various channels (e.g. website, social media, flyers, green ribbons*).

Medical psychosocial service
Healthcare services can raise public awareness about mental health concerns, prevent mental illnesses among vulnerable individuals, and provide support to those dealing with mental health problems. In previous editions, you have proven to be significant partners in the planning of various events
- Developing awareness-raising initiatives for the general public.
- Organising an open house or specific interventions for your target audience or service providers (e.g. thematic conferences, practical workshops).
- Training your staff on mental health topics (e.g. Mental Health First Aid course) and their own wellbeing (e.g. stress management training).
- Collaborating with other stakeholders to promote a coherent, complementary, and jointly developed approach.
- Promoting the mental health weeks via various channels (e.g. website, social media, flyers, green ribbons*).

Non-profit charitable, sports, cultural, or recreational associations are fundamental hubs for community life and can have a substantial impact on promoting mental health within society. During the mental health weeks, you can participate at multiple levels
- Organising awareness-raising activities for the general public (e.g. open house, artistic activities, promoting sports as a means of preventing mental health issues).
- Training their members on mental health topics (e.g. Mental Health First Aid course).
- Supporting initiatives that highlight mental health and will take place during the two weeks.
- Collaborating with other stakeholders to promote a coherent, complementary, and jointly developed approach.

Arts and culture can exert a positive influence on mental health. A cultural event can serve as an informational and emotional outlet while simultaneously raising public awareness of mental health issues. For a cultural institution, participation may involve

- Organising interactive artistic expression activities for both the general public and specific populations (e.g. art workshops, contests).

Companies play a vital role in our society and can set examples of best practices in mental health promotion. During the mental health weeks, you have the opportunity to engage by
- Organising a family day or team-building activities for your employees.
- Training your staff on mental health topics (e.g. Mental Health First Aid course) and their own wellbeing (e.g. stress management training).
- Providing information or materials for raising awareness (e.g. awareness materials, expert interventions).
- Supporting or sponsoring mental health promotion initiatives by regional and national actors/partners.
- Collaborating with other stakeholders to promote a coherent, complementary, and jointly developed approach.

Private individual
Anyone can commit to improving their understanding of mental health to strengthen both individual and collective resilience. By remaining mindful of our own mental health and that of others, we can empower ourselves against sources of stress and support our loved ones. During the mental health weeks, you can take part by
- Participating in events provided by local and regional actors.
- Volunteering for the activity organisers.
- Launching awareness-raising initiatives in your neighbourhood or municipality (e.g. neighbourhood gathering, sports tournament to raise funds, sharing awareness materials).
- Promoting the mental health weeks via various channels (e.g. social media, flyers, green ribbon).
- Signing up for a mental health first aid course and encouraging family and friends to do the same.
